How to deal with a Global Warming skeptic in a cooling world

By the blogowner, honestclimate, December 16, 2008

The world is no warmer today than it was in 1998, we can’t have people thinking that global warming has stopped. Below is an easy to understand flow diagram on how to deal with global warming skeptics in a cooling world…

More Scepticism in the Mainstream Media

From the Jennifer Marohasy blog, December 16, 2008

By Cathy Ramotswe

As you might expect, Australia’s Canberra Times is a conformist newspaper that mostly goes along with the capital’s political fashions, and has long run the alarmist AGW line.   Over the weekend there has been a turn-around. Their economics editor, a well respected David Alexander, has written a long opinion piece plus a news item, in which amongst other things to concedes that some of the climate critics are highly qualified and (based on the NZ precedent) suggests the possibility of a parliamentary enquiry into the ETS, about which he says “Much would be learnt, the public would be enthralled.  Surely there is nothing to be afraid of?”.

This, and especially the understated rhetorical question, is a stunning development.

On top of which, retired ANU economics professor Richard Mulgan has an editorial in today’s Times that sings the praises of scepticism in general!

Finally, at the same time, our ABC has run an article about “carbon baggers” (lovely term!) chasing aboriginal interests, about which the blog response is almost entirely “a plague on the ETS house”.

Things are moving, and by the sweetest irony that on the very day that the Rudd government has plumped for a timorous (though still silly, because it won’t have the faintest possible influence on future
temperature) 5% ETS rate.

This can’t be right, the Melbourne Age newspaper has printed an article by a sceptic! October 7, 2008

This can’t be right, the Melbourne Age newspaper has printed an article by a sceptic!

By the blogowner, honestclimate, October 7, 2008

I was surprised to see the below article in The Age. The Age printing an article involving sceptism over the man-made climate debate. Wow!

LIKE many, I’m finding it hard to decide whether climate change is a man-made phenomenon or part of a natural order, a natural cycle of things.

But it seems as if there can be no debate about this. Dare to challenge the “inconvenient truth”, that global warming, leading to climate change, is man-made, and heaven help you. In ages gone by, it seems you either died of the black plague, were drowned as a witch or burned as a heretic. Life choices were thus somewhat limited.

Isn’t there now a little of “Middle Ages” intolerance in the climate change debate?

Australians ‘losing interest’ in climate change

From News.com.au, October 6, 2008

AUSTRALIANS are getting bored with climate change, and many still doubt whether it is actually happening, says a new survey.

Only 46 per cent of Australians said they would take action on climate change if they were in charge of making decisions for Australia, a dip from 55 per cent last year, according to the Ipsos-Eureka Social Research Institute’s third annual climate change survey.

And almost one in 10 Australians (nine per cent) strongly agreed with the statement “I have serious doubts about whether climate change is occurring”. A further 23 per cent agreed to some extent.

Ipsos-Eureka director of Sustainable Communities and Environment Unit Jasmine Hoye believes Australians are becoming more concerned with other environmental issues that they can have more direct control over.

“We believe the public is currently overwhelmed by other, more pressing environmental issues – namely water and river health – and sees climate change as something that is largely out of their control,” she said.

Met Office says climate change deniers deluded have their head in the sand

By the blogowner, honestclimate

What do you do when you’re the UK Met Office and you keep getting your climate forecasts wrong?

Why, you turn around and say that climate change deniers are deluded and have their heads in the sand!

No wonder the UK Met Office is on the attack, the globe has refused to warm for ten years, with RECORD cold temperatures being set every month around the world.

Could it be that the UK Met Office has its head in the clouds?

Global Warming, where are ya?

Global Warming, where art thou?

Get Ready for the Global Warming Propaganda

From the New World Liberty Blog

Now that government scientists recognize that the sun’s lack of sun spot activity is going to significantly cool the solar system, get ready for the storm of propaganda. You’ll hear something to this effect on every major news show and every major newspaper.

“Global warming is still real. These colder temperatures just mean it could be a lot colder without global warming. We still must fight global warming because these colder temperatures will not last. We must still significantly reduce our carbon footprint.”

Get ready to vomit. The real scientists know CO2 is a minor greenhouse gas with neglible effect on global temperatures and usually follow global warming rather than cause it. The sun and water in the atmosphere are the leading determination of global temperatures.

Sun Warms and Cools the Earth

From The New Zealand Centre for Political Research, September 20, 2008

In an op-ed in a Polish weekly I commented recently on a remarkable decrease of global temperature in 2008, and over the past decade. Not surprisingly the op-ed evoked a strong reaction from Polish co-workers of IPCC, denying the existence of cooling. Surprising, however, was that the criticism dwelled upon a “global climatic conspiracy”, and “colossal international plot”. I did not use these words nor even hinted at such an idea.

The idea was probably apparent from the data and facts I presented, showing weaknesses of the man-made global warming hypothesis. Without irrational political or ideological factors, it is really difficult to understand why so many people believe in human causation of the Modern Warm Period, which was never plausibly proved by scientific evidence. Some of these factors I will discuss here.

A lethal global cocktail – why we should be very concerned

By the blogowner, honestclimate, September 22, 2008

What do you get when you mix the following ingredients together?

Global Financial Crisis

+Global Cooling (extreme cooling predicted)

+Global Drought (severe drought predicted 2009-2016)

global drought

global financial crisis

global cooling

= A Lethal Global Cocktail

We have recently witnessed a financial crisis not seen in a long time, just last week Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy. Lehman Brothers was the oldest bank in the United States, a bank heavily invested in the politics of climate change, but couldn’t even predict its own downfall.

Now we have news of an impending global drought and global cooling, mix this in with the current financial crisis and we have reason for concern.

I’d like to share with you predictions by 2 well respected scientists:

The first by Professor William Alexander who has predicted a severe global drought from 2009-2016.

The second is a global cooling prediction by Professor Joseph D’Aleo.

Click here for Professor William Alexander’s Drought Prediction paper

Click here for Professor Joseph D’Aleo’s article on Global Cooling

As you can see we are in for some really tough times, whilst our politicians insist on squandering millions upon millions upon trying to prevent global warming, something us humans clearly have no control of. After all, the globe has refused to warm since 1998, whilst human co2 has increased substantially.

Problems with the Climate Models

Professor Michael R.Fox

Professor Michael R. Fox

By Dr Professor Michael R. Fox

From Hawaii Reporter, September 12, 2008

Recalling that people such as Robert F. Kennedy have called climate skeptics “traitors”, David Suzuki calls for their jailing, the Grist website called for Nuremburg trials for them, NASA’s Dr. Jim Hansen calling for their trials for treason, along with the habitual insults from Al Gore, its been difficult for anyone to respectfully dissent. It’s been difficult to stick to the rules of hard science, by demanding evidence and replication, both of which require questioning but are often followed by insults and threats. The world owes a lot to many climate scientists who are closely studying and reviewing the claims of the global warming lobby. They are also attempting to replicate some of these findings without the traditional support of the originating authors. Ordinarily, in the world of hard nosed science, such scrutiny and replication has been historically welcomed. No longer. The well-known name calling, the dismissiveness, the ad hominem attacks, is regrettably now the standard level of discourse. Additionally, these include many laboratory directors, media editors, and Ph.D.s who for whatever reasons adopt the same low roads of discourse and the abandonment of science.

These are difficult times for traditional climate scientists who do practice good science, serious peer review, welcome scrutiny, replication, and the sharing of data. Thanks to the whole world of the global warm-mongers and indentured PhDs, the integrity of the entire world of science is being diminished, followed by a loss of trust and respect.
