Global Warming Hoax Weekly Round-Up, Jun. 25th 2010

The Daily Bayonet, June 24, 2010

Al Gore morphs into El Grope and continues his rapid descent into PR hell.  Warmist hippies draw up an enemies list, David Suzuki drops the F bomb in a cafe and a Beatle is concerned with ‘climate warming’.

Part One: Al Gore & Friends

Al Gore is in the news again.  Last week it was revealed that the Goreacle had been porking his movie producer, this week an Inconvenient Tryst is with a masseuse who claims that Al tried to get a happy ending when it wasn’t on the menu.  Accusations are that the green guru turned into El Grope to such an extent that a police report was filed. Tom has salacious bits if you don’t want to read it all.  Tipper is now odds-on favorite to win the top honors at the 2010 Good Timing Awards.

One thing to be grateful for, that El Grope wasn’t around in the 1930‘s.

Al continued to promote the Gore enrichment scheme with an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal.  It’s behind a subscription wall, but the great man excerpted a little for us peons:

Global Warming Hoax Weekly Round-Up, May 27th 2010

Daily Bayonet
May 27, 2010

Al Gore channels Monty Python, there’s a long list of hyphen-gate scandals for you to cut out and keep, Big Green is out of step with ordinary people and there is a planet doomed by global warming, but it’s not Earth.

All that and a hottie from down under in your weekly round-up.

Al Gore buys a new mega-estate from which to criticize excessive energy consumption

Financial Post, May 6, 2010

What is a multi-multi-millionaire Nobel Prize winner and environmental super-crusader to do with the riches that keep piling up from his international mission to save the planet?

If you’re Al Gore, you spend a chunk of it on yet another mega-home, this one in Montecito, California, a pleasant community for really, really rich people along the Pacific Coast near Santa Barbara.

The Los Angeles Times reported recently:

Former Vice President Al Gore and his wife, Tipper, have added a Montecito-area property to their real estate holdings, reports the Montecito Journal.

The couple spent $8,875,000 on an ocean-view villa on 1.5 acres with a swimming pool, spa and fountains, a real estate source familiar with the deal confirms. The Italian-style house has six fireplaces, five bedrooms and nine bathrooms.

This makes four mega-homes for the Gores, who have made vast amounts of money urging people to reduce the amount of energy they consume. It’s safe to say approximately everyone in the world (give or take a plutocrat) has fewer mega-homes and uses less energy than the Gores. Nine bathrooms? Is that because it’s so far from one end of the house to the other that Mr. Gore’s bladder can’t hold out? And six fireplaces: because in California, unlike, say, Canada, it gets cold in the winter, and the Gore’s need six fireplaces. Five wouldn’t be enough. Plus fountains. You can’t have enough fountains, especially as they consume no energy at all. The water just spouts into the air of its own volition.

The $10 Trillion Climate Fraud

Investor’s Business Daily, 28 April, 2010

Cap-And-Trade: While senators froth over Goldman Sachs and derivatives, a climate trading scheme being run out of the Chicago Climate Exchange would make Bernie Madoff blush. Its trail leads to the White House.

Lost in the recent headlines was Al Gore’s appearance Monday in Denver at the annual meeting of the Council of Foundations, an association of the nation’s philanthropic leaders.

“Time’s running out (on climate change),” Gore told them. “We have to get our act together. You have a unique role in getting our act together.”

Gore was right that foundations will play a key role in keeping the climate scam alive as evidence of outright climate fraud grows, just as they were critical in the beginning when the Joyce Foundation in 2000 and 2001 provided the seed money to start the Chicago Climate Exchange. It started trading in 2003, and what it trades is, essentially, air. More specifically perhaps, hot air.

After Climategate, Should Savvy Investors Short Carbon Credits? (PJM Exclusive)

By Ira Stoll
Pajamas Media, April 6, 2010

With confidence in the pseudo-commodity fading, wouldn’t a short sell be a rock-solid investment? Financial pros weigh in.

Just how badly have Climategate and the failure of the UN climate change summit in Copenhagen hurt prospects for a global market in carbon “offsets”?

In Denial – The meltdown of the climate campaign.

By Steven F. Hayward
The Weekly Standard, March 2010

It is increasingly clear that the leak of the internal emails and documents of the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia in November has done for the climate change debate what the Pentagon Papers did for the Vietnam war debate 40 years ago—changed the narrative decisively. Additional revelations of unethical behavior, errors, and serial exaggeration in climate science are rolling out on an almost daily basis, and there is good reason to expect more.

The U.N.’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), hitherto the gold standard in climate science, is under fire for shoddy work and facing calls for a serious shakeup. The U.S. Climate Action Partnership, the self-serving coalition of environmentalists and big business hoping to create a carbon cartel, is falling apart in the wake of the collapse of any prospect of enacting cap and trade in Congress. Meanwhile, the climate campaign’s fallback plan to have the EPA regulate greenhouse gas emissions through the cumbersome Clean Air Act is generating bipartisan opposition.

The British media—even the left-leaning, climate alarmists of the Guardian and BBC—are turning on the climate campaign with a vengeance. The somnolent American media, which have done as poor a job reporting about climate change as they did on John Edwards, have largely averted their gaze from the inconvenient meltdown of the climate campaign, but the rock solid edifice in the newsrooms is cracking. Al Gore was conspicuously missing in action before surfacing with a long article in the New York Times on February 28, reiterating his familiar parade of horribles: The sea level will rise! Monster storms! Climate refugees in the hundreds of millions! Political chaos the world over! It was the rhetorical equivalent of stamping his feet and saying “It is too so!” In a sign of how dramatic the reversal of fortune has been for the climate campaign, it is now James Inhofe, the leading climate skeptic in the Senate, who is eager to have Gore testify before Congress.

Gore’s Profits Of Doom

Investors Business Daily
November 3,2009

Junk Science: The oracle of climate disaster has a new book out on global warming that should be on the fiction list. He asks us to commit economic suicide while he rakes in millions from his green investments.

‘Our Choice: A Plan to Solve the Climate Crisis,” Al Gore’s sequel to his 2006 tome “An Inconvenient Truth,” came out Tuesday. Printed on recycled paper using low-VOC (volatile organic compound) ink, it will undoubtedly be a best-seller and on the desk of every attendee at next month’s climate change conference in Copenhagen.

In a press release announcing the book, the Oscar- and Nobel Prize-winning former vice president writes: “Now that the need for urgent action is even clearer with the alarming new findings of the last three years, it is time for a comprehensive global plan that actually solves the climate crisis. ‘Our Choice’ will answer that call.”

The book’s cover depicts one of the hurricanes Gore still claims are increasing in frequency and intensity. What has happened in the past three years is that such claims have been thoroughly debunked as the earth has cooled, possibly for decades hence.

For example, a recent study by researchers at Florida State University determined that the 2007 and 2008 hurricane seasons had the least tropical activity in the Northern Hemisphere in 30 years.

Arctic refuses to behave; predictions adjusted

By Andrew Bolt
Herald Sun, October 29, 09

Two years ago Californian researchers warned the ice in the Arctic could vanish in 2012Or thereabouts, agreed a NASA scientist. The US National Snow and Ice Data Centre claimed it could even be ice-free in 2008.

The Arctic ice in 2008 increased.

Oh. All right, so Al Gore in December 2008 adjusted his prediction of an ice-free Arctic to 2013:

Except the Arctic refreeze that winter was remarkably strong.

So early this year, Al Gore predicted the ice could vanish by 2014.

Yet the ice this year increased again.

Hmm. Britain’s Met Office now puts this catastrophism on ice – just for now:

Modelling of Arctic sea ice by the Met Office Hadley Centre climate model shows that ice invariably recovers from extreme events, and that the long-term trend of reduction is robust — with the first ice-free summer expected to occur between 2060 and 2080.
