Global warming is a household phrase these days, and it has led to a situation in which far too many educated people believe that mankind is hastening the destruction of the world through industry and civilization. But where is the evidence to support these claims? In this impossible-to-put-down book Harold Ambler presents the history of climate in ways that are accessible to the average Joe or Jill and which make it clear that in terms of temperature, weather, and climate we have been here before. Without compromising on scientific detail, Ambler spends each chapter focusing on a different facet of climate science including sunspots, tradewinds, computer modeling, and data collection. He also deftly connects political stakeholders in the global warming arena to various distortions of the science. This distillation of information gives the reader the ability to decide whether global warming is a tangible threat or a convenient propaganda tool.

Sounds like the author has his opinion. Never sure why people think there is an agenda on the part of scientists who say climate change is real. Polluting the environment and reducing our natural resources are never a good idea so it shocks me that some people oppose environmental initiatives.

The scientific community still overwhelmingly agrees there has been an effect on our climate.

Thanks for information on Harold Ambler’s book.

Unfortunately many other fields of science – astronomy, climatology, nuclear, particle, solar and space physics – have been compromised since a great social engineering experiment was secretly adopted in 1971 to:

Unite Nations against an imaginary common enemy – Global Climate Change – and save the world from mutual nuclear annihilation after world leaders saw their own mortality in events of Hiroshima (6 Aug 1945) and the Cuban Missile Crisis (late Oct 1962).

The path they set in 1971: http://omanuel.wordpress.com/about/

Continues in recent events:

If enough of our constitution remains at election time (questionable) and voters still have choices, we will see whether or not this ominous trend might be reversed.

“On Dennis Miller’s radio show Thursday Lord Christopher Monckton, a former policy adviser to British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and an activist against global warming “alarmism,” went all-in on questioning President Barack Obama’s citizenship.

“… the 3rd Viscount Monckton of Brenchley hinted about his position on the issue in April 2010 at a tea party rally on the National Mall near the White House.
But on Miller’s show, he said the birth certificate issue was far more important that combatting so-called anthropogenic global warming.

“I mean, hey you got a president who has a false birth certificate on the Internet, on the White House website,” Monckton said. “It’s not even clear where he was born…

“… Miller protested by saying he disagreed with the suggestion that Obama has a fraudulent birth certificate. But Monckton dug in his heels.

“I don’t know whether he is Kenyan or not,” Monckton said.

“The point is that if I were you, I would want to make absolutely sure that he was born here before allowing him to be elected. And the birth certificate that he put up on that website, I don’t know where he was born. But I do know that birth certificate isn’t genuine.”

Monckton firmly asserted that the birth certificate on the White House website wasn’t real, and claimed it could be dismantled with software.

“It appears in layers on the screen in such a way you can remove quite separately each of the individual dates,”

Monckton said.

“You use Adobe Illustrator and each of the individual dates is in its own separate layer. This thing has been fabricated. Sheriff [Joe] Arpaio of Arizona has had a team on this for six months. And he has now gone public and said there’s something very desperately wrong with this and of course nobody is saying anything because the entire electorate has been fooled.”

“… I haven’t a clue where Obama was born and I wouldn’t want to entreat into the private grief behind investigating. But the point is, is what he has done on the White House website is he has put up a document which he is plainly a forgery and I would regard that as a very serious matter.”

Fighting polution is fine Jennifer. Just don’t confuse CO2 with polution.

Dear Harold Ambler and all of his fans: For the optimally correct label for this clearly pseudo-religious, Gaia-worshiping AGW scam, please consider the “BRANCH CARBONIAN CULT” article in the archives of AmericanThinker.com — which begins by offering ten telltale ways in which this BCC resembles the typical religious cult, whether Branch Davidian, Branch Jim Jonesian, Branch Obaman or otherwise:

1. Leadership by a self-glorifying, manipulative New Age Prophet — in this case, former Vice-President Al Gore, though he is rapidly being supplanted by President Barack Obama.

2. Assertion of an apocalyptic threat to all mankind.

3. An absolutist definition of both the threat and proposed solution(s).

4. Promise of a salvation from this pending apocalypse.

5. Devotion to an inspired text which (arguendo) embodies all the answers — in this case, Prophet Gore’s pseudo-scientific book “Earth in the Balance” and his more recent “An Inconvenient Truth” documentary.

6. A specific list of “truths” (see the Ten Commandments listed below) which must be embraced and proselytized by all Cult members..

7. An absolute intolerance of any deviation from any of these truths by any Cult member.

8. A strident intolerance of any outside criticism of the Cult’s definition of the problem or of its proposed solutions.

9. A “Heaven-on-Earth” vision of the results of the mission’s success and/or a “Hell-on-Earth” result if the cultic mission should fail.

10. An inordinate fear (and an outright rejection of the possibility) of being proven wrong in either the apocalyptic vision or the proposed salvation.

The remainder of this article presents the “Ten Commandments” of the BCC and lists ten simple environmental truths that the apocalyptic BRANCH CARBONIANS definitely do not want us to know — for fear that we will know for certain who they and their “Scamalot” message of Global Salvation are all about.

Jennifer, you stated, “Never sure why people think there is an agenda on the part of scientists who say climate change is real.” My response is, follow the money. Check out Al Gore’s wealth since he’s started banging the drum for global warming. He is but one example. You might also be interested to know that when Al and Tipper Gore left the White House in 2001 the couples estimated worth was between $1-$2 million. Nine years later, Al and Tipper are worth between $100 and $200 million. There’s a lot of money in scaring people into believing that man is destroying the Earth and we’re all going to die. But Al is concerned about the environment, isn’t he? In 2010, Gore purchased an $8.8 million ocean-view villa in the gated community of Montecito, California. The 6,500-square-foot villa tucked on one-and-a-half acres of grounds includes a swimming pool, a spa, fountains, five bedrooms and nine baths. No carbon footprint there- Gore purchases “carbon exchanges” from one of his companies so he’s allowed to “pollute”. Can you say hypocrisy?

Protecting the earth and its natural resources with reasonable laws? Good

Destroying the wealth upon which we all (especially the poor) depend with unnecessary and ineffective regulation and lying in an attempt to coerce such regulation? Bad
