Firing trillions of mirrors into space will stop global warming
By the blogowner, honestclimate, March 1, 2009
Excerpt from an article in the Telegraph.co.uk, February 27, 2009
According to astronomer Dr Roger Angel, at the University of Arizona, the trillions of mirrors would have to be fired one million miles above the earth using a huge cannon with a barrel of 0.6 miles across.
The gun would pack 100 times the power of conventional weapons and need an exclusion zone of several miles before being fired.
Despite the obvious obstacles – including an estimated $350 trillion (£244trn) price tag for the project – Dr Angel is confident of getting the project off the ground.

SCIENCE V PROPAGANDA – PROF. BOB CARTER
From New Zealand Climate Science, February 24, 2009
“The editorial in last weekend’s Australian, ‘Carbon trading is not the only answer’ (21/22 February), addressed the controversial issue of the government’s planned emissions trading legislation, commenting that ‘We need to hear other ideas on greenhouse gas reduction’.
Talk about missing the point! For the pressing issue that we need to deal with is the hard reality of natural climate change, rather than wasting money on futile attempts to ‘stop’ speculative human-caused warming.” Professor Bob Carter in Quadrant Online. LINK

Who’s afraid of global warming?
By Esti Ahronovitz
From Haaretz.com, February 23, 2009
The blackboard in Prof. Nir Shaviv’s office in the Department of Physics at Hebrew University is covered with equations and graphs. He’s hunched over the computer, searching for another illustration, another study that will underscore the subject of our talk: the effect of cosmic rays on the earth’s warming.
Shaviv is the preeminent Israeli scholar among a handful throughout the world who believe that human beings are not responsible for global warming. The consequences of global warming were portrayed in Al Gore’s successful 2006 film, “An Inconvenient Truth,” which presents a frightening scenario to which one can hardly remain indifferent: giant ice caps melting, vast areas of human settlement covered by seas that overflow their banks, fierce hurricanes, new strains of bacteria, plagues and death.
The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) considered the most authoritative body on environmental issues, stated in its 2007 report that the earth’s temperature has risen by 0.74 degrees Celsius over the past century. The panel predicted that by the year 2100, the earth’s temperature could rise by another 2-4.5 degrees. Most of the world’s scientists share the belief that there is a correlation between the rise in temperature and the rise in the amount of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases derived from the burning of fossil fuels, from power stations that use petroleum or coal, from auto emissions, factory smokestacks and more.
Shaviv refuses to get worked up: “The hysteria surrounding the concept of ‘global warming’ will fade over the years,” he says. “People will see that the apocalyptic forecasts are not coming true. Today there is no fingerprint attesting that carbon dioxide emission causes a rise in temperature. A Grad missile that falls in Sderot should be more cause for concern.” Back to the Ice Age Last Wednesday, Shaviv was featured in a documentary broadcast on Channel 8, “The Cloud Mystery,” alongside Danish scientist Henrik Svensmark, a physicist whose pioneering experiments conducted in Copenhagen revealed how changes on the sun’s surface and cosmic rays are what affect climate, and not the polluting gases from manmade sources.

Record carbon dioxide unable to prevent Snowiest Winter Ever Recorded in North Dakota
By the blogowner honestclimate, February 28, 2009
From Watts Up With That
Snow, wind, and cold have assaulted North Dakota yet again in the past 24 hours. In Bismarck Friday morning the temperature was 12 below zero with a new inch or two of snow expected following Thursday’s more significant storm.
December was a record breaker for Bismarck, as it was at many other locations around the state. In Bismarck, the total for the month was 33.3 inches, the greatest amount ever received in a single month.
By the end of January, many counties had more than 400 percent of normal snow totals on the ground, and Governor John Hoeven had declared a state of emergency.
Let me predict how the alarmists will justify these record cold events:
-Thank goodness for man-made global warming or it would have been even colder/snowier!
-Thanks to man-made global warming these “freak record cold weather” events will become less frequent.
-Actually record cold and snow is proof of man-made global warming climate change

To escape global warming, move to New Zealand!
From the Washington Post, February 23, 2009
Adam Fier recently sold his home, got rid of his car and pulled his twin 6-year-old girls out of elementary school in Montgomery County. He and his wife packed the family’s belongings and moved to New Zealand — a place they had never visited or seen before, and where they have no family or professional connections. Among the top reasons: global warming.
I wonder if Al Gore will be next?

What if there is no Man-Made Global Warming? What then?
By Tom Deweese
From Canada Free Press, February 25, 2009
Here are some questions every American should ask their elected officials – especially those supporting “climate change” legislation: If it is proven that climate change is not man-made, but natural, will you be relieved and excited to know that man is off the hook? Will you now help to remove all of the draconian regulations passed during the global warming hysteria, since it was all wrong headed and harmful to the economy and our way of life?
Their answers to these questions should be very illuminating as to the true agenda they seek to impose. Is their agenda really about helping to protect the environment, or is it about creating a new social and economic order, using the environment as the excuse?
If they are supporting climate change legislation because of a genuine concern for the environment, then they should now be greatly relieved to know that true science is showing more and more evidence that there is no man-made global warming, and in fact, a natural cooling period has begun.
Last year, 52 scientists authored a much hyped report issued by the UN’s IPCC which said global warming was man-made and getting worse. But in the past year, more than 650 scientists from around the world have now expressed their doubts about the reports findings – 12 times the number of IPCC global warming alarmists now agree it’s bunk.
“I am a skeptic…Global Warming has become a new religion,” says Nobel Prize Winner for Physics, Ivar Giaever. “Since I am no longer affiliated with any organization nor receiving any funding, I can speak quite frankly…as a scientist I remain skeptical,” says Atmospheric Scientist Dr. Joanne Simpson, formally with NASA and called “among the most preeminent scientists of the last 100 years.” Warming fears are the “worst scientific scandal in history… When people come to know what the truth is, they will feel deceived by science and scientists,” said UN IPCC Japanese Scientist Dr. Kiminori Itoh. “It is a blatant lie put forth in the media that makes it seem there is only a fringe of scientists who don’t buy into anthropogenic global warming,” said U.S. Government Atmospheric Scientist Stanley B, Glodenberg. Top these very few quotes with the fact that 34,000 scientists have now signed a petition saying global warming is probably natural and is not man-made.
Instead, they say the science shows warming actually stopped in 1999. That the brief warming period we experienced in the past decade was completely natural, caused, in part, by storms on the sun, not CO2 emissions from SUVs. The Sun storms have ended and now, a cooling period has begun. That’s it. Done. Crisis over. Man is not to blame.
Hurray! The nation should be rejoicing. No need for expensive green cars, mercury-filled light bulbs, special house building materials, alternative energy, no bird- killing windmills, no special energy taxes, no extra government oversight committees, no more global climate change conferences – and no need for a Climate Czar. Carol Browner can go back into mothballs. We can finally clean out the ten feet of fuel on the bottom of the forests and prevent the massive forest fires. And that will help us reestablish the timber industry and all the jobs that were killed. We can drill American oil and end our dependency on foreigners who hate us. In fact, that stable source of energy and its prices will help restore the Detroit auto industry and all of those jobs. Why, we don’t need a stimulus package – the economy will rebound on its own. We are free. The environment is not in crisis. Rejoice! Rejoice!
Because global warming never was about protecting the environment. It was the excuse to enforce global governance on the planet
That silence you hear is the news media, which refuses to report what any skeptic has to say. That silence you hear is the lack of effort on Capitol Hill to start to pull back from the climate change hysteria. That silence you hear is from the White House where President of Change, Barack Obama now has an EPA director, a Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) director and a full blown Climate Change Czar, all working to impose huge cut backs in energy use, taxes, rules and regulations that will bring an already damaged economy to its knees – all in the name of man-made Global Warming – which doesn’t exist. That silence you hear is from global corporations which have bought into Al Gores lie and invested heavily in the promised green economy. In fact, their dollars are the only thing green about any of it. Their commercials are promoting the lie and changing our way of life. None of them are about to change any of these policies, simply to accommodate a few scientific facts.
In spite of all the facts to the contrary, in spite of literally thousands of real scientists joining the ranks of the skeptics, Gore just told Congress that the Global Warming crisis is even worse than predicted. Obama said “the science is settled.”
Why? Because global warming never was about protecting the environment. It was the excuse to enforce global governance on the planet, by creating a new global economy based on the environment rather than on goods and services. In short, it’s all about wealth redistribution. Your wealth into a green rat hole. We used to call it communism. Now we call it environmentalism. It sounds so friendly. So meaningful. So urgent. The devastation is the same.
So, go ahead. Ask your elected representatives how they would react to the fact that global warming is not real. Are they happy and relieved, or do they continue to promote the same insanity called Climate Change? Their answers will tell you their true agenda.

UK Met Office: Coldest Winter in over a decade but would have been even colder without global warming
By the blogowner, honestclimate, February 26, 2009
Extract from UK Met Office news report:
Mild weather is expected to see out what remains of winter. Despite this, it is expected to be the coldest UK winter since 1995/96, according to provisional Met Office figures.
The low temperatures have also been accompanied at times by heavy snow. During early February, the heaviest snowfall for 18 years was experienced over many areas of the UK.
Reading further along
Natural variability of climate means that the UK will continue to see spells of colder weather at times. Although, if it had not been for the general warming already observed in global temperatures, this winter may well have been even colder.
Yes, thank goodness for global warming!

YouTube – IPCC Excuses Exemplify
While gathering incomplete and out-of-date information about global warming, the IPCC has no plan and takes no action to reduce its own carbon footprint, has only excuses.

Humans not causing climate change: MP
From YahooNews, February 25, 2009
An opposition MP says humans are not causing climate change, and pointed to Adolf Hitler as an example of how scientists can be wrong.
Liberal MP Dennis Jensen’s comments come days after his leader Malcolm Turnbull promised a greener climate change policy than the government’s.
Dr Jensen cast doubt on the apparent scientific consensus that humans are affecting the climate.
“Albert Einstein was very much criticised by Hitler, and Hitler actually had a group of 100 top scientists in Germany write a book called 100 scientists against Einstein,” Dr Jensen told reporters in Canberra.
“Einstein was asked: `Doesn’t it bother you Dr Einstein that you’ve got so many scientists against you?’
“And he said: `It doesn’t take 100 scientists to prove me wrong, it takes a single fact’.”
Dr Jensen, who has a PhD in the physics of ceramics, said he was a climate change sceptic.
Mr Turnbull says humans are affecting the climate and the problem must be addressed.
Dr Jensen said he differed with his leader on that.
Mr Turnbull has promised to set a deeper target to cut greenhouse gas emissions than the government.
“This is something that’s still got to be discussed in the party room,” Dr Jensen said.
When asked how reporters should sum up the opposition’s climate change policy, the West Australian MP said: “I’ll leave that to you to determine”.
Dr Jensen on Wednesday launched an online petition which says the world is not warming at an unusual rate, and emissions trading should not go ahead.
Climate Change Minister Penny Wong called on Mr Turnbull to deal with Dr Jensen.
“Mr Turnbull knows it’s the right thing to do to act on climate change,” she told reporters in Canberra.
“It’s up to Mr Turnbull to pull his people into line.”

First February 2009 Cycle 24 sunspot appears
Finally a new Cycle 24 sunspot has appeared high in latitude in the northern hemisphere. It has been numbered 1013. Pictures are below.
We will have to see if this thing decides to grow larger. This ends the spotless streak and is the first Cycle 24 spot since Jan 9th.
